What can you do in the simulator? You’ll be guided by a real airline pilot at all times so, the sky’s the limit. Dependent on the time you have we can do a wide range of activities from engine start up, to take offs and landing. You can choose your preferred activities when you meet your instructor/pilot. He/she will quickly assess your wants, expectations and any previous knowledge, you may have, and provide you with an experience of a lifetime. You can choose between 24,000 airports around the world. There is plenty you can do and we’ll tailor every session to be unique, so don’t be concerned if this is the first time at the controls or if you are a retired airline captain, we’ve got something for you!
Can I bring a friend? Yes, most welcome! In fact we’ll happily allow you to swap seats if you so desire. Photos and filming is most welcome. Post on social media.
Can we buy more time? Yes, just call or write to us Christchurch@flightexperience.com and you can buy more time between 90 minutes and 4 hours. You can also share that time with friends – for example an after 5 session with staff, customers, friends, family, etc…
1. Check-In
On arrival to the Flight Experience™ store, present your personal boarding pass at the front counter. You'll be checked-in and introduced to your First Officer.
2. Meet your first officer
Our flight instructor is your First Officer. All of our instructors are real airline pilots who have been flying real Boeing 737 aircraft and have many years of experience.
3. Pre-flight briefing and flight plan
After assessing your level of expertise, your First Officer will help you choose your flight options and destinations. This includes a multi-media presentation and briefing video.
4. Boarding call
As the Captain (in the simulator), you will sit in the front left-hand seat while your passengers (friends) sit in the two jump-seats, directly behind you. Strap in with your 5-point seat harness and real aircraft headsets. You're almost ready!
5. Ready for take-off
Your First Officer will brief you on the primary controls and instruments and then you're ready for take-off! With a clearance from Air Traffic Control, you will advance the thrust levers and the aircraft accelerates down the runway.
6. Your flight experience
Your first officer calls 'rotate' and you will pull the control column back towards you and the nose wheel lifts off the runway. You’re airborne, and the flight experience really begins. It’s all so realistic – so much through that you’ll be convinced you’re in the sky!
